We Can Be Drug Free Coalition

The We Can Be Drug Free Coalition works on underage drinking, suicide prevention and substance abuse issues as it affects the youth of Butler County. Strategies include public media awareness campaigns against underage drinking, alcohol compliance checks at alcohol outlets in Poplar Bluff, Responsible Beverage Server Certifications and distribution of alcohol outlet “of age” calendars. The Coalition supports the "Risky Business" annual event for seniors from high schools in our regions.  "Risky business" focuses on risky behaviors among our youth.  Each year the Coalition acknowledges September, National Recovery Month, by supporting Recovery Fest made possible through Regional Recovery Network.  The Coalition also supports the Prescription Take Back Days and the Permanent Drug Drop Box located at the Poplar Bluff Police Department.  Sectors of the community serving on this committee include law enforcement, drug court, state agencies, medical, substance abuse treatment, media, higher education, school districts, youth, and local government.
