Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant PDF Print E-mail
In 2006, the Butler County "We Can Be Drug Free" Coalition recieved a Strategic Prevention State Incentive Grant from the Missouri Department of Mental Health to researcha nd implement an intervention plan to combat "risky drinking", defined as binge and underage drinking targeting 12-25 year olds in Butler County. The focus of the intervention plan is to educate vendors and the general population in Butler County regarding alcohol related state laws and to address femily management problems through Building Strong Families workshops offered to families in Butler County. In 2007, a DVD titled "It's Not Worth It" was produced to inform the public about binge and underage drinking and risky behavior. The video was released in 2008 and is used in schools, law enforcement agencies, and bussinesses as a training/ educational tool. It has been presented at national and state conferences, Missouri Governor's Advisory Board, and the Missouri Department of Mental Health Commission Board.
