August 1, 2009 began the sixth year of Poplar Bluff's Promise AmeriCorps. This year, our AmeriCorps Team is 37 Members strong, serving in Poplar Bluff R-1 School District, Twin Rivers R-X School District, Head Start, and the Boys and Girls Club. Their efforts help to improve the reading levels of our students and will help in our continuing efforts to reduce juvenile crime and promote positive youth development. The 2009-2010 AmeriCorps Team will earn over $227,000 in living allowances and over $85,000 in educational awards.
